Well, now I have 2 vans - a second generation '99 Odyssey with powered sliding doors.
Still prefer my smaller Oasis!

Got it used. The passenger side sliding door was hard to open, had to replace the rollers. This door is also rusting out at the bottom. Bought a replacement door in the same color from the salvage yard. Both fixes were quite easy to do!

One last fix- the driver side sliding door closes and latches, but the dash indicator shows it's open. Turned out to be an easy fix, see the bottom paragraph of the Sliding Door roller repair page!

Decided to try some PlastiDip spray paint and black out the chrome trim on the grill, and the badges on the tailgate. Tip- because the excess overspray gets peeled off, you don't have to mask it fully like with regular paint. Next time, I'll leave more of a border around the item.

Followed the directions on the can, and from a few web videos. Started with a light coat, and applied around 5-6 coats. I removed the trim ring from the grill.

I think the result is pretty good! Not sure if I should leave the front H as is or black it out as well!

Ok, I'm leaving that H chromed in front.

Do you think anyone will notice the difference between the stock 2nd gen and the newer 3rd gen badge?

Plasitdip also makes a gray.  So I decided to redo the rear badges and grill in gray. Masked off the black(chrome) frame and badge and sprayed the interior grill in gray.

It's not that big of a contrast from the black that I imagined. But the original fins were quite discolored from my pictures at the top of this page.

Another recent change..

I swapped my stock 5 spoke wheels for newer (2002) 7 spoke alloys, with better tires but lots of nasty curb rash. Washed them (I actually scrubbed them with a wire brush) and removed the plastic Honda H emblem from all of the center caps. Then I sprayed them with several coats of PlastiDip. Loving the results, and I don't even notice the damage anymore! I'll see how it holds up over the winter.
Update- after 3 years a little bit duller, but not bad! I got a second set of wheels, this set I painted them gray.

I like it, blacked out trim and blacked out wheels!
